Pope Francis' legacy will be defined by a series of 'firsts'
In Evangelii Gaudium ('Joy of the Gospel'), Pope Francis said: I prefer a Church which is bruised, hurting and dirty because it has been out on the streets, rather than a Church which is unhealthy from being confined and from clinging to its security.
Pope Francis saw the Church as a “field hospital” called to tend to the wounded on the battlefields of life, offering her medicine of mercy to all. The Church, Pope Francis insisted, is not only to teach but to act—to embrace those on the periphery and to bring the light of Christ to the darkest corners of society.
Shortly after his election as Pope, his first visit outside of Rome was to the marooned African boat people washed ashore on the small Italian island of Lampedusa. He never tired of defending the displaced migrant nor embracing the marginalized or excluded, whether at a papal audience in St. Peter’s Square or in a prison.

El legado del Papa Francisco se definirá por una serie de ‘primicias’
En Evangelii Gaudium (“La alegría del Evangelio”), el Papa Francisco dijo: “Prefiero una Iglesia magullada, herida y sucia porque ha salido a la calle, que una Iglesia malsana por estar recluida y por aferrarse a su propia seguridad”. Consideró a la Iglesia como un “hospital de campaña” llamado a atender a los heridos en los campos de batalla de la vida, ofreciendo su medicina de misericordia a todos.
La Iglesia, insistió el Papa Francisco, no sólo debe enseñar, sino actuar, abrazar a los que están en la periferia y llevar la luz de Cristo a los rincones más oscuros de la sociedad.
Su primera visita fuera de Roma, poco después de su elección como Papa, fue a los náufragos africanos abandonados en la pequeña isla italiana de Lampedusa. Y nunca se cansó de defender a los emigrantes desplazados o de abrazar a los marginados o excluidos, ya fuera en una audiencia papal en la Plaza de San Pedro o en una cárcel.

This Jubilee Year is dedicated to celebrate the 2,025th Anniversary of the Incarnation of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The theme, the motto for this Jubilee Year proposed by Pope Francis is “Pilgrims of Hope”. Pope Francis invites us to “fan the flame of hope that has been given us, and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty”.
This Jubilee Year of 2025 will offer the faithful opportunities to participate in various jubilee events at the Vatican and in their own dioceses. For pilgrims in Miami who cannot travel to Rome, Archbishop Wenski has designated the Cathedral of Miami and other popular Catholic places in the Archdiocese as special places of prayer for Jubilee Year pilgrims, offering opportunities for reconciliation, indulgences and other events intended to strengthen and revive the faith.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Church has been blessed by being selected as one the 6 churches/shrines as special places of prayer for Jubilee Year Pilgrims.
The basic conditions to gain an indulgence are
- be purified through the sacrament of penance
- be refreshed by the reception of the Holy Communion
- and pray for the pope.
Groups of faithful who wish to organize pilgrimages to one or more of the designated churches or shrines should coordinate with the designated site so that the pilgrims can be properly welcomed and have access to the Sacraments, especially confession.
Este Año Jubilar está dedicado a la Celebración del Aniversario 2,025 de la Encarnación de Nuestro Señor y Salvador, Jesucristo. El tema, el lema para este Año Jubilar propuesto por el Papa Francisco es “Peregrinos de la esperanza”. El Papa Francisco nos invita a “avivar la llama de la esperanza que se nos ha dado y ayudar a todos a adquirir nuevas fuerzas y certezas”.
Este Año Jubilar de 2025 ofrecerá a los fieles oportunidades de participar en diversos eventos jubilares en el Vaticano y en sus propias diócesis. Para los peregrinos en Miami que no pueden viajar a Roma, el Arzobispo Wenski ha designado la Catedral de Miami y otros lugares católicos populares en la Arquidiócesis como lugares especiales de oración para los peregrinos del Año Jubilar, ofreciendo oportunidades para la reconciliación, indulgencias y otros eventos destinados a fortalecer y revivir la fe.
La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe ha sido bendecida al ser seleccionada como una de las 6 iglesias/santuarios como lugares especiales de oración para los peregrinos del Año Jubilar.
Las condiciones básicas para obtener una indulgencia son
- ser purificados mediante el sacramento de la penitencia
- refrescarse con la recepción de la Sagrada Comunión
- y orar por el Papa.
Los grupos de fieles que deseen organizar peregrinaciones a una o más de las iglesias o santuarios designados deben coordinarse con el lugar designado para que los peregrinos puedan ser recibidos adecuadamente y tener acceso a los sacramentos, especialmente la confesión.

With great joy we would like to inform you that we are opening the Registrations for:
- CCD (Classes of Catechesis for kids and teens)
- OCIA (Classes of Catechesis for Young Adults and Adults).
The Registrations are open from May 1st, 2025, until July 31st, 2025.
Keep in mind that space is limited, and the Registration might be closed sooner.
Important things to keep in mind.
- The applications are filled out online.
- You must complete the Application and attach all the documents required.
- We need copies of those documents and upload it to the application; we do not need the originals.
- We will review the applications and if it is complete we will accept it.
- If the application is incomplete, we will not accept it.
- It might take us up to 30 days to review all the applications.
- Please remember that your contribution to the program will not be charged until August 2025.

7th Sacred Art.
Mosaic Technique.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Doral.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish is pleased to invite you to participate in the 7th Sacred Art Workshop using the mosaic technique.
The workshop, taught by Father Alexander Narváez SJ, will begin on May 6th (course registration date) and end on August 5th (two hours per week).
The workshop will be bilingual. The workshop requires a donation of $70 plus the cost of the artwork chosen by each student.
The workshop is a tool for learning to pray and discern according to the spirituality of Saint Ignatius of Loyola.

Tecnica Mosaico.
Parroquia Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, Doral.
La Parroquia Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, tiene el gusto de invitarte a participar en el 7 Taller de Arte Sacro en técnica mosaico.
El taller será dictado por el padre Alexander Narváez SJ., iniciará el próximo 6 de Mayo (día de inscripción al curso) y terminará el 5 de Agosto (dos horas por semana) y será bilingüe.
El taller tiene una donación de 70 dólares más los costos de la pieza de arte que cada estudiante escoja.
El taller es una herramienta para aprender a orar y discernir según la espiritualidad de San Ignacio de Loyola.
